Cookie Policy
Last updated July 26, 2026
This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage used on the Union Bar and Grill website. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
What Cookies and Local Storage Are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. "Local storage" works similarly but keeps data in the browser without sending it back to the server on every request. Both let a site remember something between page views.
What This Site Actually Uses
We keep this deliberately minimal. As of the date above, this site uses strictly necessary browser storage only:
- VIP popup preference — a single local-storage entry recording that you already saw or dismissed the VIP list popup, so it does not reappear on every visit. Stored in your browser only. No personal information, no expiration tracking beyond a timestamp.
- Standard hosting and security logs — our host records ordinary request data such as IP address and timestamps to serve pages and protect against abuse. This is server-side logging, not a cookie.
We do not run Google Analytics, a Meta pixel, or any other third-party advertising or tracking cookie on this site. Because we use no non-essential cookies, no consent banner is required in the jurisdictions that mandate one.
Third-Party Embeds
Some pages embed content from other companies, and those companies may set their own cookies when the embed loads or when you click through:
- Google Maps (the venue map on our contact section).
- Instagram and Facebook links, which set cookies once you land on their sites.
We do not control those cookies. Review Google's and Meta's own cookie and privacy policies for details.
How to Control or Clear Storage
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies and site data from its settings or privacy menu, usually under "Cookies and site data" or "Clear browsing data". Clearing this site's data will simply make the VIP popup eligible to appear again. Blocking storage entirely will not break the site.
Changes
If we ever add analytics or advertising cookies, we will update this page first and add any consent controls that the law requires. Questions? Email Bar@iowacitybar.com.
